Commissions
Some pieces begin as conversations.
I accept a limited number of commissions for textile work, works on paper, mixed media pieces, and Days with Sage. Commissioned work grows through dialogue rather than prescription—through listening, shared reflection, and careful attention to material, scale, and purpose.
If you’re drawn to my work and curious about inviting a piece into your life, I welcome that conversation.
Mixed Media on Paper
Works on paper are often intimate in scale and highly expressive. These pieces can be drawings, prints, collages, or mixed media. They may incorporate drawing, stitching, paint, prints, or layered materials. All are suited to spaces where close looking matters.
Paper commissions are well‑suited for:
- Personal milestones or quiet markers of time
- Gifts meant to be lived with
- Smaller wall spaces or series intended to live together
Each piece responds to both material qualities and the rhythm of the making process.
Please note, I do not create representational art.
Textile Stories
Mixed media textile commissions can integrate fabric, slow stitching, paper, experimental printmaking, and mark‑making. They often emphasizing texture, color, weight, and subtle variation. Currently, they are either scrolls or wall hangings.
These works are well‑suited for:
- Pieces meant to hold emotional or bodily presence
- Rooms that benefit from softness and depth
- Clients drawn to tactile, layered surfaces
Because textiles behave differently than paper—stretching, shifting, and aging—these commissions evolve in close conversation with their intended environment.
Quilts
As a modern and improv quilter, quilt commissions are rooted in use and artistic design, blending functionality and aesthetics. They are designed to be lived with and loved.
Quilt commissions can include:
- Baby quilts
- Lap quilts
- Wall hangings
Commissioned designs may incorporate:
- Meaningful color palettes
- Modern elements such as negative space, improv piecing, offset designs
- Free motion quilting
- Limited big stitch quilting
Rather than heirlooms in the traditional sense, these quilts are companions—meant to gather history through use.
Days with Sage
Days with Sage commissions are for home and personal pieces. These can include:
- Pillows
- Kawandi placemats (shown)
- Bags & zip pouches
- Scarves
- Other utilitarian items
Because of their nature, we discuss together which designs will work best for you and your lifestyle, as well as select a color palette.
Policies for Commissions
- Process over product. Commissions are collaborative and unfold over time. Rather than beginning with a fixed image, we begin with context: how the piece will be lived with, what materials you’re drawn to, and what kind of presence you’re seeking.
- Timeline. Because this work develops slowly, timelines vary. Most commissions span several weeks to several months depending on scope, materials, and drying or stitching time.
- Pricing. Pricing reflects materials, scale, and labor. A non‑refundable deposit of 50% is required to begin, with the balance due prior to delivery.
- Revisions. The process allows for response and adjustment, but I do not replicate existing work or provide exact previews. Each piece remains singular and is often intuitive and improvisational.
- Care & Longevity. I’ll share care guidance specific to your piece so it can age well over time.
If you’re unsure whether your idea fits this approach, that’s often a good place to start the conversation.
